At Fort Deposit Elementary School, our Media Center is more than just a library. It is the heart of learning on our campus. The Media Center provides a welcoming, safe, and academically focused environment where students can read, research, collaborate, and grow

Our Media Center supports classroom instruction and student achievement by offering a wide variety of books, digital resources, research tools, and computer access. Whether students are preparing for class assignments, studying for the ACAP, working on projects, or simply enjoying a good book, the Media Center is a place where learning comes alive

We are committed to promoting literacy, critical thinking, and independent learning. Through engaging resources and a supportive atmosphere, we strive to inspire a love of reading and lifelong learning in every student

At Fort Deposit Elementary School, we believe strong readers become strong leaders. We invite our students, staff, parents, and community members to take advantage of the many resources available in the Media Center

“Where excellence is in our DNA”

The Fort Deposit Elementary Library is a shared academic space designed to support learning, research, and independent reading. In order to maintain an environment where all students can succeed, we ask that everyone follow these important guidelines

Students are expected to respect library materials so that resources remain available for everyone. Books, magazines, technology, and furnishings should be handled with care to ensure we continue building a strong collection for current and future Bulldogs

Everything in the library has a designated place. By returning materials to their proper location and keeping areas organized, we ensure that resources are easy to find and accessible when needed

Sharing is essential in a community of learners. Students should return materials on time so others may use them. When an item is unavailable, placing it on hold demonstrates responsibility and respect for the needs of others

Finally, the library is a place for focused work and thoughtful reading. Students should avoid disturbing others so that everyone has a quiet, supportive space to study, research, and grow.

At Fort Deposit Elementary School, we respect people, property, and learning

Mission Statement

The mission of the Central High School Library Media Center is to support 21st-century learning by providing high-quality resources and services that enhance the educational needs, interests, and achievement of all students and staff

We are committed to delivering the best educational experience by maintaining a nurturing, safe, and welcoming environment that honors and respects all ethnic, cultural, and educational differences

Our goal is to empower every learner to become a lifelong reader, critical thinker, and informed citizen who appreciates and celebrates literature, themselves, and others

Hours of Operation

The Fort Deposit Elementary Library is open daily from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing students with a welcoming and structured for reading, research, and academic support. Students may visit the library before school, during the instructional day with teacher approval, or as part of a scheduled class visit. Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to quality resources that support learning, literacy, and college and career readiness

Students may check out books for a period of two weeks, and materials may be renewed as often as needed, provided there is no waiting list for the item. We encourage students to take responsibility for managing their checkout dates and returning materials on time so that resources remain available to all members of our Lion community

Reference materials, including specialized research tools and certain academic resources, are reserved for in-library use only to ensure consistent access for instructional purposes. In addition, while current magazine issues remain in the library, back issues are available for overnight circulation and should be returned the next school day

The Fort Deposit Elementary Library exists to promote literacy, responsibility, and academic excellence. We believe that when students engage in reading and research consistently, they build the foundation necessary for success in the classroom and beyond
